Office Hours

Office hours will happen on a rotation basis during a cycle. 

Week A - Tuesday 7:00 - 8:00 PM JST
Week B - Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00 PM JST

Video Lessons:

The structure of the lessons is as follows:

1. Assigned reading.
2. Video
3. Video and classroom examples
4. Class work.

Videos may  contain additional examples or content that may not be in the textbook. However, if you can't watch the videos, you should not worry, you still have access to all the textbooks and tasks via our classroom and

Math IA:

I will provide practice explorations with the objective of familiarizing you with the concept of exploring and with writing and presenting written mathematical work.

After the two practice IAs you will be asked to develop your own idea to explore and write about.

Please notice that I CANNOT:
- Edit your work.
- Write your work.
- Assign you a topic
- Tell you what to do in detail
- Point out specific errors/mistakes

You will provide very well thought of ideas for me to assess and give you feedback on, it will be done through a form that will be share when the time comes. Please make sure you think of very focused research questions just like you would for your EE. Avoid feeling satisfied with a general statement or a topic, you must have a clear idea of the research question in order for me to help you move forward. 

Grades and Assessment:

Every assessment we will make during the first semester will be formative. for the end of the year grade your final assessments will carry the most weight, and will serve as evidence for your predicted grade, which will not be disclosed to you, and only to university advising office.

From here onwards every quiz, test etc, will be cumulative. I will assume you are studying and preparing to be asked about the content studied in previous quarters, even that learnt during our online learning stages. 

If a study guide is provided you may not assume it contains all the scope of a test. You are expected to search for and practice questions on topics even if they are not included in a study guide.

Letters of recommendation:

If you requested me to write a letter of recommendation, please take this opportunity to demonstrate all of your engagement, leadership skills, your commitment, your interest in Math, etc, so I will have really awesome things to say about you!

Lesson 0: Presumed knowledge

In this lesson you will:

- Get an understanding of the content and skills you need entering this course.

- Reflect on your own knowledge and understanding 

- Create a catch-on plan for yourself.


1. Play the following game! Try your best to reflect on what went well and what went wrong for each question.

2. Take 10 minutes to go over the documentation for presumed knowledge to get an idea of the content you are expected to have mastered before joining this course.

3. Open the practice exercises and work for them for about 40 minutes.

     Assigned questions: 1, 8, 10, 12, 14, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 40, 45, 48, 47, 48, 50, 53, 59, 

     61, 80, 82, 84, 87, 96, 100, 104, 105.

4. Open the self assessment form and fill it in..

5. Homework: For next lesson, prepare a plan with tangible commitments to address the areas that you need to reinforce. You will have a period of 15 days to get up to date with your presumed knowledge.
